Hecht said it will take hundreds or even thousands of volunteer lawyers to guarantee that cases involving the unaccompanied children are handled quickly and fairly under the law. “The need is going to be a whole lot bigger than the supply,” he said. “Many lawyers are already standing up to volunteer, but we are going to need to call on a lot more to pitch in."
